Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ohio Head Start Association, Inc. (OHSAI)?

OHSAI is an independent, 501(c)(3) membership organization - not a supervisory component of the Office of Head Start, nor a local program. Our mission is dedicated to the training and advocacy that enhance and foster the growth of individual members, member agencies, partners, and the broader early childhood community across Ohio, representing more than 26,000 children and families across all 88 Ohio counties. OHSAI collaborates closely with Ohio's Early Head Start and Head Start programs, the Region 5 Head Start Association, the National Head Start Association, the Ohio Department of Children and Youth, and the many other partners working with urgency and passion to serve vulnerable children and families throughout the state.

How do I become a member of OHSAI?

Membership is open to all Ohio Early Head Start and Head Start grant recipient agencies. Any Head Start employee whose agency pays membership dues to OHSAI is automatically an OHSAI member, with no separate application required. If you are interested in individual membership or corporate sponsorship, contact us.

How do I contact OHSAI?

OHSAI can be reached by email at ohsai@ohsai.org, by phone at 937-435-1113, or by mail at 7810 McEwen, Suite E, Dayton, OH 45459.

How do I find a Head Start center in my area?

The Office of Head Start CENTER LOCATOR lists Head Start centers by area. OHSAI is also available to help connect families and providers to programs across the state.
